Creatine is used by the body to supply energy to cells, particularly muscle cells. This can help to improve physical performance, particularly during high-intensity activities such as weightlifting and sprinting. This is why it is very beneficial to use while doing CrossFit or really during any physical activity! Creatine is one of the most studied sports supplements and it’s both effective and safe.
That’s a lot of potential added benefit!
Supplementing with about 3-5 grams a day for those who work out and strength train is generally the guideline. No need to “load it” or cycle on/off it.
We actually can find creatine naturally in the foods we eat, such as red meat. Research shows to get around 5 grams you’d need to consume about two pounds of meat to get that dose! Since some of us may not eat that much or no meat at all supplementing with Creatine is a super easy way to get in this essential amino acid!
If you’re debating whether or not to take this pre or post workout, I recommend just supplementing it daily whenever is most convenient and call it a day! As long as you are getting the benefits listed above, the timing is secondary.
