January 18, 2018 – Masters Open Prep Program

Every athlete needs to assess how they are feeling today. Assess how your body has responded to Monday-Wednesdays sessions and either do the following:

1 – Take a full rest day. If this is the option you choose, then you are not allowed to feel guilty for not going into the gym. Resting is crucial to advancement in your training so if you choose to rest then have no regrets!

2 – Mobilize. Use your regular training time to mobilize. Find your problem areas and spend some time focusing on those areas.

3 – Active Recovery.

This could be swimming (you can find our free swim workouts on our Competition blog every Thursday), doing a trail run, a low intensity row session or a 30 minute tempo run. Whatever activity you choose to do should be a restorative activity and not deplete you for the remaining week of training.

Took yesterday off completely. My shoulders/arms still don’t feel right. I now feel like it’s a combination of doing a bit too much this past weekend and a slight rheumatoid arthritis flare-up. So I’m going to continue to take it easy on my arms. Just did yesterday’s back squats today: 6 x 130# 4 x 150# 2 x 160# 2 x 170# 7 x 160# Finished with 3 sets of 15 GHD sit-ups 15 GHD hip extensions 30 sec rest Will see how I feel tomorrow. I definitely want to get some cardio in as I probably won’t be able… Read more »

Yes, take it easy!! If you need to today, just do some assault bike intervals (no db snatches) to rest the arms.

BMU were terrible today. I was doing them like C2B and I chickened winged just about everyone of them.
B)190#/220/230/245/230×8
C)14:44. Completed at the 50-54. Had to sub rowing for running as it is still too icy outside to run.
DL were all fast singles, C2B were ub and HSW were not pretty.
I did this in honor of “The Champ” as I knew that this wod was going to put a hurting on me.
