December 8, 2014 – Masters Program

Workout of the Day
A.
Barbell to IT Band x 60 seconds per side

and then …

Supine Leg Whip x 8 reps per leg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRSquvZfP0w)
Bird Dogs x 8-10 reps per side
Banded Lateral Walks x 10 reps per side

B.
Every 2 minutes, for 10 minutes (5 sets):
Back Squat
*Set 1 – 6 reps @ 65%
*Set 2 – 4 reps @ 75%
*Set 3 – 2 reps @ 85%
*Set 4 – 2 reps @ 90%
*Set 5 – 1 rep @ 95%

followed by…

One set of:
Back Squat x Max Unbroken Reps @ 90%
(athletes are allowed only on full breathing cycle at the top of the lift – exhale, inhale, brace and descend – once more rest is taken at the top, the set is over)

C.
Three sets of:
Tall Jerks x 3 reps

Immediately followed by…

Five sets of:
2 Jerk Dips + Jerk
(Perform two controlled dips as if you were going to jerk, then on the third dip, jerk the bar overhead.)
Rest as needed

Use Jerk Blocks if possible.

D.
MEN & WOMEN 40-54
Four sets for times of:
Row 500 Meters
25 Kettlebell Swings (32/24 kg)
15 Push Press (115/75 lbs)
Rest 3 minutes

Kettlebell swings do not need to be overhead if mobility doesn’t permit good mechanics – above the eyebrow is a good training standard outside of the competitive season.

MEN & WOMEN 55-59
Four sets for times of:
Row 500 Meters
25 Kettlebell Swings (24/16 kg)
15 Push Press (95/65 lbs)
Rest 3 minutes

MEN & WOMEN 60+
Four sets for times of:
Row 500 Meters
25 Kettlebell Swings (16/12 kg)
15 Push Press (65/45 lbs)
Rest 3 minutes

This appears to be our work for today. It was posted under Masters Games Prep I think Workout of the Day A. Three sets, not for time, of: Handstand Walk x 10-15 meters (For assistance, use a spotter to hold onto your calves and allow your legs to lean into their hands. Goal is to get inverted and walk, assistance or no assistance) Bar Muscle Ups x 2-4 reps (60+ – perform Chest to Bar Pull Ups x 6-10 reps) L-Sit Hold on Rings x 45 seconds B. Every 2 minutes for 20 minutes (10 sets), complete: Snatch x 1… Read more »

D.just one round due to fatigue 3:37

For the last 6 weeks been battling some serious stomach pains (literally crippling) and last night it caused me to throw up a ton. So this late night WOD (after work) well just worn out. Tomorrow getting checked out, blood work and physical to see what’s going on. Then back at the grind! 🙂

Take care and let us know if they find something. Today (Tuesday morning) was my turn, workout is not out yet but I did my morning session based on last week Tuesday session and it was not my day today. Snatch felt so heavy that I call it off and went to shower after warm up.

A. Barbell roll & banded squats
B. worked up to 235, did not do max reps
C. worked up to 195, failed the jerk but was getting a solid drive off my shoulders on the dips.
D. 5:12/5:29/5:43/6:14 guess this is what happens when you work thru lunch instead of eating. Was also cautious of the KB Swings as this was the movement that hurt my back a few weeks ago; scaled to 20kg.

A. Love this mobility, Eric Cressey is awesome!
B. 130/155/175/185/195, 4@180
C. Had to skip due to time constraints.

D. 3:48,3:53,3;48,3:53, this was an interesting test. I tried a couple different strategies here since back to back rowing and heavy swings are my nemesis. First and second round unbroken, third and fourth round I broke up the swings to 15/10 to get on the bar quicker for UB PP. I ended up with the exact same times, but didn’t get my heart rate so jacked up. Good lesson for me!
